A Date With
Death
"For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in
God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments
and every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ."
II Corinthians 10:4-5 New King James
Version

Wounded and bleeding,
broken I laid
No thoughts for tomorrow, no hope for today
It had gone on far too long
The enemy was too strong
Too much pain too much strife
In this war we call life

I cried out aloud "I
can’t take anymore
Is there any way out, just show me the door
I have done the best I can
They will have to understand
That they are better off without me
Life will go on, and they will be free"

A voice in the darkness
gave a quick consent
The phrase "better off dead" became my lament
The whole world was spinning out of control
My grip was now slipping and I began to let go

Before all this strife
I had been someone’s wife
Someone else will take my place
And wear the smile that hell erased
The mother of a beautiful boy
Why spoil his life and steal his joy
A daughter, a sister, a teacher, a friend
It seemed so far gone but I remembered when

Then the voice spoke very
firmly inside of my head
I tried not to hear it but with a vengeance it said
"Those times are now gone and they’ll never
come back"
Spoke the voice deep within in the darkness so black

I cried out to Jesus,
"Lord what else can I do?
I’ve tried to move forward, I’ve cried out to
You"
"He doesn’t hear what you say
Don’t bother to pray
Your time has now come
No more life, you are done
On with the plan
You don’t need the Son of Man
I control your destiny
From now on you will follow me"

The claws dug in causing
such pain
I knew that I was going insane
This war was no joke
Those claws they did choke
the very life-blood out of me
I closed my eyes so not to see
All that I was leaving behind
Yet one word stood out somewhere deep in my mind

It began as a whisper so
soft and low
Over and over again with intensity it did grow
Soon it was coming out of my mouth
Hell began shaking and the demons ran south
"Jesus, Jesus" was all that I said
It rose up in my heart and whirled around in my head
The Spirit within me was speaking it out
I went from a whisper to a staggering shout

"That’s
the name of my Son
You speak it and I come
You will not die, you will live
You have much more to give
I release you this hour
From the enemy’s power
Forevermore you will serve me
Go and set the captives free"

"The
thief does not come except to steal, and kill, and
destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that
they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10 New King James
Version

"The
Lord God has put His Spirit in me, because the Lord has
appointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has
sent me to comfort those whose hearts are broken, to tell
the captives they are free, and to tell the prisoners
they are released."
Isaiah 61:1 New Century Version
