Ebenezer Titus Bailey

Ebenezer T. Bailey served during the Civil War in the 172nd Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The regiment was mustered in May 1, 1864 at Cambridge by John O. Cravens, A. A. G., and was mustered out Sept. 3, 1864 at Gallipolis, OH by George H. McLaughlin, Capt., 2nd Infantry, U.S. Army. Ebenezer was 17 when he was mustered in. His unit had guard duty at Gallipolis, which is on the Ohio River, the entire length of its service. Even under these conditions, this unit had 12 deaths, all due to disease.--from "Military History of Ohio" by H. H. Hardesty
