This page is a tribute to my mother, Maisie Mildred, born in 1913 and sadly died at 49 years young in 1962.

mum My mum worked hard to raise me without my father, who died when I was only 1 year old. Fortunately, my mum and dad were living with my grandmother when this happened, so we continued to live with grandma. (Read my Uncle Raymonds memories of the Far North to get some idea of mum's early childhood, and my Grandma's life then).

mum This was a big help to mum, as this was the time of World War Two, and things were not easy, with shortages of items and rationing. Mum, and grandma, saw me through all the changes of childhood and teenage years.

mum and dad There were, of course, times when mum and I had our differences, but to me, mum was always the best mum in the world and my best friend. To my regret she died before I married, so she never got to enjoy her three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
