~LEADBEATERS MIX~
*a recipe* .....and more!
The mix:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup apple sauce or apple juice
- 1/2cup baby rice cereal (dry)

- 1 boiled egg, shell included
Whizz in a blender or mash with a fork.
AND~OR (substitutions, additions)
- 1/2 cup wheat germ
- Use your preferred small animal/bird vitamin supplement to substitute for Vionate.
- If you prefer to use a calcium supplement you may want to omit the egg shell.
- Gliderade may be added or poured over like gravy at serving time.
- Additional juice or fruit nectar may be poured over like gravy at serving time.
- 1/2 cup corn (fresh or frozen preferred)
- 1/3 cup tofu
- 4 ounce jar of baby food chicken
- Use both the apple juice and the apple sauce.
- Use any fruit nectar to substitute for apple juice.
- Use 8 ounce jar of baby food fruit instead of applesauce.
- 1 Tbs. bee pollen
- 2 Tbs. peanut butter or chopped nuts
- Use grape juice instead of apple juice, citrus juices not recommended for mixture.
- Brisky's pellets may also be added, mix in blender
The amount to feed your glider will depend on your glider's appetite and the other foods you
serve in addition to this mix. With 4 gliders, this batch will last about one week.
Serve your glider fresh fruits such as
- apples
- pears
- grapes
- avacado
- mango
- mellon
- dates
And fresh vegies such as
- corn
- peas
- carrots
- celery
- broccoli stock
And nuts such as
- pinenuts
- peanuts
- almonds
- unsalted sunflower seeds
- pecans
Mixing chunks of fruits and vegies into the mix is not recommended, the gliders will make a big splatter
mess with their food and it will dry where ever it lands.
Sugar gliders seem to have individual favorites, just like us humans. Each one will have it's own preferences. Offer different things to see what each likes and dislikes the most.
They also seem to enjoy variety, try offering different foods at each feeding.
Serve sugar gliders bugs! Crickets and meal worms can be purchased at pet stores. They also eat moths, grass hoppers and june bugs. Be very cautious about pesticides, if you suspect any chance of contact with pesticide, don't feed the bug to your glider. Bugs travel long distances on the wind.
Avoid over feeding the goodies!!Just like us, sugar gliders will indulge on the things they like the most.
They may get an attitude and hold out for the goodies,
leaving their normal feeding untouched.
And just like us, if allowed to do so, they will become obese.
It's ok to share your goodies with your glider, just don't over do it or let them make a meal of it.

Never give your sugar glider sugar free items
and absolutely no alcoholic beverages for the gliders!
These things can be fatal to a sugar glider!
