FORMER BARTOW RESIDENT TO BE HONORED: more information at e2davis@mindspring.com Stone Mountain Confederate reenactors will fire a salute as the people of DeKalb and Gwinnett and Bartow Counties gather to honor the memory of more than 200 Southern soldiers buried in the Stone Mountain City cemetery. Confederate Memorial Day, Monday, April 26, 1999 at 7:30PM. The service is free and open to the public, This year's heritage commemoration will remember the service of Cadet Paul Turner Goldsmith, a resident of Bartow County and student at the Georgia Military Institute, during the war. Goldsmith was the son of Major Turner Goldsmith, who moved his family to Cass County in 1847. Besides son Paul, Major Goldsmith also sent five other sons into Confederate Service, including two who served in the Etowah Guards of the 14th Regiment Georgia volunteer Infantry.
