Untitled Clues for Charles and Bryant's, Hall Co. area-1800s From: "Joyce Wilson" mamajo45@hotmail.com My great grandmother was Susan Melinda Bryant. her parents are listed in the family bible as E.B.Bryant and L.M. Charles. I have been told that Bryant was Irish and Charles full blood Cherokee. Susan married Thomas Gideon Shockley. She never applied for the Cherokee rolls, the family decided not too. The Indian connection has not been talked about in the family and ggrandpa seemed to be estranged from his family. Am finding that it is possible that Bryants were Cherokee also. Have checked the Cherokee rolls and find Bryants and Charles both but so far no records or family trees for anyone. There is one Bryant on the census record in the same section as Thomas Gideon. Any suggestions as to how I could proceed? Thank you. Joyce Wilson at momajo54@hotmail.com

My great great grandmother and grandfather Leeke From: Skaugarden@aol.com I have searched all over the Internet and the only luck I have had has been in your keeping. There is a will for Martha E. Martha Francis Lewis Newland, From: "SCA" John Antebush From: ggesq ggesq@goes.com Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. The person whom I am trying to locate information on is John Antebush. His company is listed as Jackson's regt, New Jersey Militia. His rank was private and he was a private when discharged. There is a reference to Roll Box 5 and Rosll-Exct. 602. The top of the page refers to the database as War of 1812 Service Records. I believe he may have been married to an Elizabeth Gray on May 12, 1816 in Sussex County, New Jersey. I believe this gentleman is the father of my great-great-great grandfather. I would be grateful for any inform. which you might have on him or for any sources that you could refer me to. I am unsure what the roll numbers refer to, as well. Thank you Dana

Green/Bartow Country From: Blackhurst, Janice RDM)ce.blackhurst@guidant.com Hi Jean, I so appreciate the information that is available at the Bartow County Website. I have been researching for years - trying to solve a puzzle on my mother's side of the family. Her great grandmother was a Lucinda Green of Cass/Bartow county. We have found her on the 1870 census for Bartow county residing in the same home with her parents Henry W.(or William Henry) Greenand Elvira Green. (On that census it lists the wife as Malenda but apparently that was in error. Malenda Gambrell was someone who lived next door or in another house on the property). On the 1860 and 1880 census Elvira is listed as the wife. Also on the 1870 census with Lucinda are some of her siblings; a younger sister Elizabeth. She also had an older brother Joe and two other older siblings. Of interest to us is the young children listed on the census as Mary Alice 3yrs old, and baby Charlie. They are not listed with a different surname - just imply that their name is Green. However they were Lucinda's two children. The mystery is that Mary Alice who is my great grandmother - apparently was orphaned young. Her baby brother died as an infant also. She always told my mother that her father's name was Albert Oliver. On her marriage record - she listed her name as Mary Alice Oliver. When we found her as a child on the 1870 census with her mom, we were so hoping that her name would be listed there as Mary Alice Oliver. I have searched several counties for any marriage record for Lucinda Green to an Albert Oliver, with no success. We assume she was married between 1865-1867. We had a birth year of 1865 for Mary Alice, but from the 1870 census, it looks like it might be 1867. I have searched for an Albert Oliver for years. I have found a couple in Georgia, one that appears he would have been too young to have fathered Mary Alice in 1866 or so. One though seems to be likely. It is an Albert Oliver, son of a Thomas and Mary E. Oliver in Gilmer County. I know Gilmer is not too far northeast of Bartow. But I never found any marriage record in that county either for an Albert Oliver and Lucinda Green. We are almost certain Mary Alice was part Indian - Cherokee or Creek. Her photo as an older woman appears that she would be Indian. Do you have any suggestions what other counties I might try looking for a marriage record for this Lucinda Green. In the 1860s did people in that county often go somewhere else for marriages? Were there certain counties that a marriage would have been performed if Albert Oliver or Lucinda were Cherokee? Thank you for any suggestions you could help me with. Janice S. Blackhurst Administrative Assistant/HR Support ph 425-376-1356 fax 425-376-1426 ce.blackhurst@guidant.com
