MISSING LINKS of FEBRUARY 20,2000 Jean Belew

We buried one of Bartow Counties oldest former residents today Monday February 14,2000. Bessie Ryals Crawford Bishop was 102 years young. Bessie taught school for over 30 years. She loved those children very much. A few years ago Miss Bessie gave up her home here and moved to Christian City in Union City.

She never forgot where she came from and the love she had for this county. Miss Bessie had 1 ancestor she had traced back to the Revolutionary War and with the help of her great nephew Thomas Irwin of Raleigh NC and Jean Belew she acquired 7 supplementals on other ancestors. Miss Bessie was finding her Missing Links.

Thomas would send in the paper work and Jean would type up the applications. Miss Bessie would call on the night before her Etowah Chapter DAR meeting and tell Jean that she would be there in the very back, we just would not know it. She had a lot of humor to her and Miss Bessie will be missed by all that loved and knew her.
