Help From:"STEVE& JOANN FLOOD" jhflood@alltel.net To:jbelew@bellsouth.net My Great-Great Grandmother, Ackey Matilda Poston Seabolt died in the 1930's, probably 37 or 38 in Bartow County. Do you have any record of her death or will? I have searched the Georgia Death Records Index with no luck whatsoever. There is a possibility her name may be spelled differently, such as "C-bolt" or CeeBolt. These are my alternatives because I don't know what to do. After her husband Elijah Seabolt died in 1928 she moved in with her daughter, Alice Seabolt Everett in Bartow Co. and she lived there till her death. Ackey is supposed to be buried in Snow Springs Cemetary beside Alice but there is no marker. Do you have any ideas for trying to find out when Ackey died? Please help if you can. Thanks,Jo Ann Harris Flood

Hi Jean, I have spoken with you on more than one occasion concerning the Buford/Freeman/Henderson families of Bartow Co...particularly the Taylorsville area. Today I am chasing a 'hot lead' that involves the family of Oscar H. Henderson. Are you familiar with a Macadonia Cemetery in or around Taylorsville? If so, please drop me a line. Thanks for your help. Also, if possible, I would like the e-mail address of the people who sent you the following queries:December 1998 MEEKS, (I am happy to say I receive many letters like this one.) Dale E Meeks writes Glad to see Bartow Co. on the Web. My father and many before him were from Bartow Co. My Dad Thad H. Meeks born in Bartow on Oct 1909 in Taylorsville, kinda in the suburbs of Taylorsville. I do not know a whole lot about my dads family due to the age of my father and that we were always on the move with my Dad in the army. My Grandmother was a Henderson, my grandfather and her both were born in 1877 and my great grandparents in 1844. I am the youngest of the grandchildren of my fathers mom and dad. The name Meeks has been hard for me to track down, as I believe there are no more in Bartow. I loved Bartow as a kid going to see what kin I have. It's sad to see now that it is growing into the same mess as Cobb. Co. were my family now resides. The days of the old farm house and dirt roads are almost gone giving way to the mass of people coming from Atlanta to live there. I have always lived in the big city but loved the countryside that was Bartow. The stories my Dad told me of plowing the field with his mule and grandmother bringing the food to the field for dinner the times of Christmas when all you got was maybe an orange and some nuts and for the guys a few shells for their guns. Reading by fire light and cornbread cooked on the old wood stove. These things I miss but that will always be Bartow to me. Sorry to be so wordy but it feels good to think of the stories my Dad told me for all my life. He died a little over 4 years ago and thank God for those stories for they are the only think I know of my family past and how though times my have been tough the family was always together having its good times. Nov 99 DODD, HENDERSON, Sabra is still looking for her Dodd family from Rome GA. Hettie Dodd b. June 25, 1898 and died Feb 12, 1972 and married in Bartow Co. GA to Claude Henderson b. Webpage From: Carlton Measels carlton@cei.net To:jbelew@bellsouth.net Just wanted to let you know that I think you are doing a great job on the Bartow County Webpage. My mother, Doris Elizabeth "Stegall" Measels was born near Pine Log. Several years ago, my wife and I visited Pine Log. It is really a beautiful place. While there we visited with Mrs. Ruth Stegall whose husband is a distant relative. Ruth took us to the old Andrew Stegall's (my great grandfather) home place. My mother was born there. I also meet Ruth's mother who at the time was about 103 years of age. Ruth's mother asked why we were in Georgia. I told her that we came to see were my grandfather and mother lived. She wanted to know who my grandfather was. I told her John Hansel Stegall. She said "I dated him when I was 16 years old". I will never forget my visit to the Pine Log area and meeting such nice people as Ruth Stegall and her mother. If you know Ruth and happen to see her, tell her that Carlton & Joyce Measels said hello. I do contact her about once a year since we were there. I also know that her mother passed away since we were there. I would like very much to visit there again but I am totally disabled and it is very hard for me to travel that far. We lived near Batesville, Arkansas. Carlton Measels

Jones family From: rzbinden@ktis.net (Rosemary J. Zbinden To: jbelew@bellsouth.net Dear Jean, I am seeking information about the William Robinson Jones line. He was my gr-gr grandfather, born about 1790 in the Cartersville, GA area, or so I am told. He came to MO in 1818 according to the Methodist Church as a circuit rider preacher for the ME Church. He settled in the Montgomery County, MO area, where my father was born in 1904. Wm R.'s son wrote a very long journal with descriptions of the family and their life, the civil war, etc. I am hoping to publish this and am looking for Wm. R. father and mother. I understand they are John Jones and his mother's last name was Robinson. It is possible she was an Indian. Do you have any knowledge of something going this far back? If so, I would really appreciate finding out.
