Comments: Kia ora Carol, I enjoyed your whakapapa page. You have certainly inspired a lot of
people. My whanau is from Ngati Maru in Taranaki and I was wondering whether you have come
across our iwi in your research as our rohe neighbours your hapu and our tipuna were busy
jumping rivers and marrying each other in the past, particularly around the time of Te Kere.
I am setting up an "unofficial Ngati Maru web site and will keep you posted.

The advantage of owning a laptop is that I can sit here, pay attention to the television and
still surf sites. I'm not done here, but I wanted to tell you I'm enjoying myself a bunch. When
you have time come and visit my site and if you're on a roll stop and see the site my wife and
I created together at http://www.angelfire.com/tx/Allenx5
Well, got to do some more exploring.

Comments: I am Irish, from Belfast, and doing feminist resaerch into education, thus the link
to mana wahine maori. I feel a great empathy with this struggle with reference to my own
country's past. Irish (Catholic) culture was basically outlawed at one point under the British
and many children were taught their culture and language in secret 'hedge schools' which took
place literally in the hedges. Culture flourishes most when it is threatened. I live in
Istanbul and am amazed to see the links here to Turkey via Gallipoli. I also believe Atatürk
was a wonderful politician who is still adored here. He was a soldier fighting for his country's
freedom, thus he was warm and empathetically human in his response to all the dead soldiers.
Turks are wonderfully warm people, much like the Irish in my experience. I love living here.
I feel very at home. Thanks for listening. Your site is lovely. I really enjoyed browsing. Feel
free to Email me if anything above struck a nerve. Red.

Comments: Hi,
My homepage is not ready yet. I was working on it and I needed some information on Gallipoli and
I did a search. That is how I found your page. I am a Turkish Canadian. I am working on a poem
that Turkey's current priminister Bulent Ecevit wrote some years ago. I was trying to translate
it in to English so that my friends and other people whose ancestors lost their lives there
with mine would read it. It is a real touching piece of work and I was so proud of our
priminister when I read it. I couldn't help my tears. It is very hard to translate it without
losing the emotional content though. I know I have done some heavy damage to it already but that
is best I can do.

Regards

I am certain by reading Waitapu Kereama's family history that my husband is the son of Rangitoto
Kereama (Mrs Williams) whom he never knew has been trying to find out anything we can about her.
All we have ever had was the name(s)and no connection. We would appreciate any news of whanau,
history, whakapapa. My husband, Te Mana Hereora Leo Hopa was born 11 July 1938 at Castlecliff
Wanganui and brought up by his father's sister Huingapoura Nepe(nee Hopa) at Taupiri. He is now
60. His father was Takiwaiora Rikihana Tamiti Hopa born 31/12/1889 died 1964?(alias Thomas
Hooper)who worked as a Native Inspector in the Wanganui,Taranaki district approx 1928-1953. Any
info would be appreciated about this lady. Her birth where and death when? Our home address is
26 Tay Street, Woodville. (06)376 5507.

The message on the wall is on my War Page, it states:

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives.....
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
 There forever rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets, to us,
where they lie side by side, here, in this country of ours.....
 You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears;
your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this
land, they have become our sons as well."

Mustafa Kemal ATATURK

I am interested in finding out more information on Henry McGILL who was born in Antrium, Ireland
but moved to NZ where he was married to a Alice CAMPBELL in 1874. I do not know what year he
arrived in NZ or what year he died. I do know that he changed his surname to MAGILL and had a
son called John who was born in Jul 1876 Tortara Flats. I would be grateful of any assistance.

I was amazed to see your whakapapa, when I saw that you were a Kereama. I have your whakapapa in
my possession, and it will form part of my thesis, your whakapapa is also mine. Heruika's hapu
was NGATI WHARE and his mother's hapu was NGATI TONGANUI, these are both hapu of NGATI MAHANGA.
Rangihaeremate and Matawhakahore (just 'whakahore' in your whakapapa) were his sisters. I knew
about Kereama and knew that he was a Pakeha, but I didn't know his full name until I read your
whakapapa. There is a link on my homepage to my thesis. It is still in construction, well the
chapters that is. In due course I will be placing all the whakapapa that I have in my website,
but that is some months away. Anyway, just thought that I'd let you know that we were
whanaunga... (and that Te Heruika was not Ngati Hourua). Our relations at Whatawhata refer to
themselves as Ngati Mahanga-Hourua, because Ngati Hourua was their specific hapuu. Ngati Hourua
is a name alluded mainly to the descendants of the Kupapa chief Wi Neera Te Awaitaia. Heruika
was closely alligned to him, being a Kupapa also. And a policeman at one stage (in the Ngati
Mahanga runanga), I'm told that he was accused of stealing cattle and later sacked. He spent the
later parts of his life as a gum-digger.

Have just spent a fascinating half hour wandering through your whakapapa and noted your
connection to the KEREAMA family. A couple of years ago I published a book on the McKAY and JOY
(or JOYCE) families and one line was that of Hera Waitauhi JOY (d. 1938) who married Te Ngako
KEREAMA. Their descendants seem to be mainly in the lower central North Island. Would be
interested to exchange information on this line with you. We are looking for a Maori genealogist
to join our publishing network. If you are interested, visit our website for further information,
or contact us by email.

I note that you have DONALDSON from Dunedin listed in the family tree. Part of my family moved
to Dunedin from Scotland after having travelled first to Nova Scotia, Canada. In particular, I
have three brothers, Robert, John, and George DONALDSON who arrived in Dunedin in December, 1861
from the Australian goldfields. I do have an almost complete family tree of Robert DONALDSON,
compiled by Clifford DONALDSON, who currently resides in Dunedin, but there is little or no
record that I am aware of, of what happened to John and George. I would be most interested in
corresponding and exchanging information with regard to any information you may have connected
to the DONALDSON surname.

Hi Carol,
nice homepage, however I only have 8 megs of RAM so my machine is slow - coupled with all the
advertising applets and/or java scripts it takes 5 minutes to download your first page, and even
longer to get to your guest book. I assume you must make money from all the advertising so I
guess they are a necessary evil. I shall visit again when I have more time.
