Notes for ISAAC MCQUATE: Served in artillery units in Civil War -- Independent Battery C, Thompson's Battery recruited at Pittsburgh to serve for three years. Mustered into service on August 22, 1864 and transferred to Battery L, 204th Regiment PA Volunteers on January 12, 1865. Moved to Ohio after the war. May have been married and had two children in PA before he moved to Ohio.

Mrs. Emma McQuate, seventy-four, widow of Benjamin McQuate died last Thursday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Sherick, Lancaster, after an illness of several years.
She was a member of Grace U. E. church that city [Lancaster]. These children survive: Maggie, wife of Ralph Wiker, William M., Peter F., all of Lancaster; Irene, wife of Frank J. Sherick, with whom she lived; also eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Shaeffer and a brother, Joseph Wenger, both of Terre Hill.
