My 3xggrandfather, William Drew, was a boatbuilder from Stourport, Worcestershire, England. He was born c1802 and died c1854, marrying Felicia Handley at Stourport in 1824. His father was probably Edward Drew, who was probably christened at Hartlebury in 1780 according to IGI and owned a boatbuilding yard at Stourport in the early C19 - but I can't confirm these connections or find any reference to this Drew line in Worcestershire before that, despite trawling many Worcs. parish registers. Before I got into genealogy, I remember my grandmother saying vaguely that some of the family moved to Medicine Hat, Canada, probably late C19-early C20, but I've found no other reference to this. Any ideas? I have a fair bit of info. on the Stourport Drews in the C19 if anyone's interested. I've built up lots more info on Drews around Stourport, Worcestershire after 1800, but just can't make the connections before then, despite a lot more work!

Her name was Rose/Rosa DREW / DREWS. That was her married name as far as I know. In Jul of 1963 I went with my Grandparents and my Great Grandfather to visit "Aunt Rose". She had to have been at least 80 or older when we went to visit her somwhere near MICHIGAN CITY INDIANA. My Great Grandfather was Joseph Stecker. There was a story that Aunt Rose's husband died by getting hit by a Trolley or getting off a Trolley, somway a trolley was involved. We know of a Rosa Sheehan who was mother in law to Joseph's sister Anne/Annie/Anna. Rosa was married to a James Sheehan when Annie married John abt 1907. Not sure if this may be the same Rosa who remarried. We are trying to figure out how Aunt Rose fit into the picture. Sure could use some help. I am trying to determine the birth county, if not the parents of Mary Abigail DREW. She was born May 9, 1789 in New York, according to the family bible belonging to she and her husband William DEVOE (born April 4, 1792.) I don't have a marriage date for Mary Abigail Drew and Willam DeVoe, but for now, I assume the place to be New York. It seems that at least part of the raising of their children took place in Portage, Allegheny County New York. The children's names were Abraham, Hulduh, Thomas, Curtis and Amos DeVoe! Do you know of this Drew?

John DREW, I believe, the son of Robert and Betty Usher STEVENS, was Christened on July 23, 1786, in Aldbourne, Wiltshire, England. He married Phoebe (Phebe) Beach in January 24, 1812, in Ballston, Saratoga, New York. I am trying to verify the connection, but the missing link is his immigration to the USA. After he married, he lived in Middleport, New York. The family ties from that point on are rather strong, but I sure do need to verify when and how he came to the US. I would be eternally grateful to anyone with any knowledge of this John DREW. There sure are a lot of John DREWs out there. Richard H. Drew ppdrew@aol.com

I am seeking information regarding my mother's family - George Scott Drew (several generations), Charles R. Drew, Edward, Frank, Philip & Marion Drew, all of New York (Syracuse and Brooklyn). Two George's, Amanda and Charles R. are buried at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, all between 3/1/1905 and 11/14/36. George S. & Amanda M. were husband and wife and I am told Amanda was a Mohawk (Iroquois). I believe the George Drews were from the Syracuse area where I understand there is still a large contingency of Mohawk (Iroquois), and may have migrated to the Brooklyn area to find work in the middle to late 1800's. My mother's brother, father, and several generations of grandfathers were all George Scott Drew. My mother's Father had 3 siblings who lived to old age and died within the past 20 - 40 years and are buried in Syracuse: Edward, Philip & Marion and another sibling, Frank, who died as a baby or toddler. (My mother is Marion also and named after her aunt.) According to family history, the George Scott Drews are of Scotch and Irish Lineage. My maternal grandfather's mother's name is said to be Mary Brown of Tipperary (this is not documented). I am anxious to pursue the history of both the Scotch-Irish and Mohawk bloodlines. I have also been told by my grandfather that he was a cousin of John Drew (Barrymore). I have just begun my research and any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

I can't find any record of John and Mary's children who would have been born sometime after 1811 say to 1848. Can anyone help? Or can you tell me if it's even likely that someone who was born in MA would go to England and get married back in the early 1800's? and then return to this country?

Hi there. I've just started a search on these two surnames. Of the Escott (or Escotte) line, this is known: -It's short! Ain't a whole lot of 'em around, as far as I've heard. In regards to Drew, there are a lot of them out there, as I've come to realize, but none of them jive with my family. As far as I know, my line hails from Dorcestshire, England. Not Devonshire, which is where most of them come from. I also know that my line is a hyphenated one (Escott-Drew). As a matter of fact, our coat of arms reflects that fact. do you have anything for me? Thanks in advance Matthew Escotte Drew

Greetings Drew family!!! I just found your website and I am very excited to contact you. I am a Drew descendent and there are three of us who are writing a very extensive book on the Drew/Drow/Droze/Droz/Dru families who originated in Frace. I have studied this family for many years and am anxious to hear who you come from. I come from Peter Drew/Drow who was born in France about 1804 and married a woman named Margaret. They had four daughter's. However, Peter also had a mistress who was thier housekeeper/nanny, and he had at least nine kids from her!... and she lived with this family for good. her name was Francoise Jeanin/Jenge, and they all came from France about 1853, and landed by boat into New York. they ssoon after went to N. Manitou Island Michigan and then lived in Leelanau County, Mi from then on. I am a descedent from Peter and (mistress) Franciouse, and their son Edward Drew/Drow. We think that Peter had a brother who lived in New York or perhap's Indiana?? and I would like to know if you are related to either this brother or from Peter....??? My Peter and his mistress had nine kids and I have accounted for all of these children, but there are two son's that might have had your ancestor: are you related to Simeon (leon) Drew and his wife Minnie (Lacross)?? or are you related to the son Peter jr. who we think went into the Upper areas of Michigan?? (Houghton, Mi). please contact me to let me know who you come from. (family tree). and i will gladly share info. with you. e-mail me at: shannonr@torch lake.com I'm anxious to hear form you. we date our Drew's back to 1804 and are trying to get into France to find his place of birth: Alsace-Lorriane France. they also lived in Paris where they had thier four daughter's; Catherine, Louise, Elizabeth and Emily. I live in Traverse City, MI. and have a lot to share. please respond soon. .....Rene p.s. I am using my daughter Shannon's e-mail, but my name is Rene.

I'm trying to find my great grandmother, Charlotte Drew, she was born in Brooklyn, New York, about 1875. She married a man named Smith, had a son, George, then we don't know what happened to her husband. She married my great grandfather, Frank Reichstadt, and had two children, Agnes and Frank Junior. Before Frank Junior was born, Frank Senior died, Frank Junior lived for only a year, then he died too. Frank Senior, Frank Junior, and George Smith are all buried in the same grave in the Luteran Cemeter, Middle Village, New York. Charlotte, (Lottie) then married Daniel Lehman, and that's about all I know of her. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Joyce Mount Spokane, Washington.

I'm wondering whether anyone has any information about a monument maker who was in St. Catharines, Canada West (now Ontario) in the 1850s. His name was Joshua C. Drew. I believe that he was in his thirties in 1854, but that's about all that I know about him. One of his monuments, signed "J.C. Drew/ St. Catherines" (sic) is in St. Mark's Church cemetery, Niagara-on-the-Lake. I'm very interested in monument makers and would like to know more about this man. Thanks. Paul
