The New International Version says, "Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." (Prov.30:6)
These two bibles do not agree. If two bibles disagree, which one is wrong. Both claim that you cannot add to or take from the word of the Lord, yet they differ. Why? Which one is right? How much do they differ? Does it affect doctrine? Who changed it?
The King James Bible says:
"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." (Deut.4:2)
"What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it." (Deut.12:32)
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Rev.22:18-19)
With such severe consequences for those who add to or take from God's word, let's compare the King James Bible with the New International Version. Some of the verses are total opposites, other verses are simply not saying the same thing. I ask all who read these comparisons to pray and ask the Lord to reveal which one is the true word of God.
