Concerning the letter of V. K. of Bowling Green, Ohio reproduced on page 10 of the Nov. 1995 issue, said person is giving away his/her ignorance of the Book of Revelation, particularly Chapter 17 which describes the Catholic Church. The last paragraph also mentions the church's enemies. Surely, they didn't consider Hitler their enemy. He got elected because of the help by the pope at the time, because Hitler was a Catholic. Mussolini was a Catholic; so were the high-ranking officers in Hitler's army. I suggest that your debating team arm themselves with Avro Manhattan's books, among other references. Manhattan's The Vatican Holocaust which describes the horrifying religious massacre in Croatia by Nazified priests negates the Catholics' claim that Nazis, tyrants, etc. are their enemies.
Please inform me of the subscription rate for the Good Newsletter, both U.S. and abroad. I'd like to subscribe for a friend in the Philippines. I do appreciate the zeal with which you're all defending His Word.
Sincerely in Christ,
B. M. of Nebraska
(After answering B.M., we received another letter from him. Because of the content, we decided to print it also.)
Dear Ms. Schoeppner,
Thank you so much for the whole set of “The Good Newsletter” that you sent. It came on the day when I was packing some gospel tracts and Bibles for the Philippines, my wife’s homeland. I aptly exclaimed, “Thank you, Lord, for the good timing!” I packed the whole set with the other materials in the box which is now on its way to the Philippines.
We have a burden in our souls for the people in the Philippines who are 85% Catholics, having been ruled by Spain for over 400 years. It takes boldness and courage, with faith in God, to give light to a people who had been indoctrinated by Catholic Spanish priests since 1521. Filipinos generally hold with awe and reverence all the Catholic rituals and traditions which have been part of their very lives. You’ll now understand why your paper means so much to us. We are especially impressed by your zeal in doing research work which strongly support your stand on varied issues.
We have connections in the Philippines who will be blest by your paper. One lady, who owns and runs a hospital with her husband, will find it useful in spreading God’s truth to patients and friends. She is also actively involved in several Bible Study programs.
Enclosed is a check for $100.00. Please send me another whole set of “The Good Newsletter” and brochures on Mass Confusion, Immaculate Deception, Scriptures on Purgatory, Which Ten Commandments, A Roman Miracle, and Vicar of Christ or Anti- Christ.
God bless you all!
A Friend in Christ,
B.M., of NE
Dear B.M.,
Thank you for your generous donation, but more so for the encouraging words. How wonderful that God is reaching out to Catholics all over the world. When we first started this organization, we didn’t realize how many other brothers and sisters in Christ we had out there that are doing the same thing! We’ve received letters from Christians all over the world (Argentina, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Russia, England, Puerto Rico) who have a great love for the truth and are not afraid to speak. One brother from Ireland spoke of the growing necessity of coming off the fence and choosing a side. You either stand with Rome, or against her. There’s no longer an in-between. There are only two things that divide, truth and error! It’s good to know that you are sending bibles to the Philippines. The word of God is the only thing that can break the spiritual chains of darkness caused by the Roman indoctrination into idolatry, to a people who are not awed by the doctrine of the church, but by the ritual and idols she thrusts upon them.
If we can be of any assistance, please let us know! May God bless you as you earnestly contend “...for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3)
A Sister in Christ Jesus,
Diane M. Schoeppner
Dear Staff of F. C. F. C., (Debbie, Diane, Rebecca, and whomever I may have missed unintentionally):
I want to commend all of you for the stand you are taking for the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is such a joy to see the work of the Holy Spirit in your lives and it uplifts me personally in my own daily walk.
I've never been Catholic but I've learned much from former Catholics (i.e. Roberto Rivera, Peter Ruckman, Charles Chiniquy). Also, from the errors of many "fundamental" protestant beliefs.
I enjoy your GOOD NEWSletter and I am eagerly awaiting your forthcoming debate with Mr. Robert Sungenis.
I want to offer my support as I am able (both financially and in prayer). Please accept this check for the Lord's work and know that I am praying for my dear sisters in Christ....
Thank you for everything!
D. L. of Pennsylvania
Dear D. L.,
Thank you very kindly for your most generous donation. We appreciate the financial aid as it helps us to serve many more.
We also look forward to the debate.Feel free to write in with your comments, perhaps a Scripture or two, in our section called "Feedback". We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for all our readers to become involved in the newsletter, Catholics and Christians alike.
Hope to hear from you in the future. Keep us in your prayers, as you are in ours.
In Christ,
Rebecca A. Sexton
Dear Rebecca,
Hope your flourishing. To my surprise and delight discovered my brief letter and article in Nov. 95's The Good Newsletter. Glad to learn Catholic Apologist Robert Sungenis and the Good News staff will debate. I'm sure it will prove stimulating, fun and illuminating!
Ms. Sexton, your reply to my articles plea for an end to anti-Catholic bigotry dismayed many I'm sure. The overwhelming bulk of Protestant Christians do not believe Catholics will kill all non-Catholics. This claim of yours is quite outlandish and reminds one of the Nazi's saying the same about Jews. The saddest thing is that persons holding anti- Catholic views don't know that they don't know and anti-Catholicism blocks the workings of the Holy Spirit in those that practise it. Enclosing 25 reasons to reject the "Bible only Theory" for your review. Imagine we will communicate again in the future.
V.K. of
Bowling Green, Oh
Dear V.K.,
Thank you for writing us. Since you are looking forward to the debate, I do hope you will comment in our "Feedback" section which we will run for the duration of the debate.
We only received one letter concerning your article from Nebraska, and we printed it. He gave some good advice! You really should take the time to read Rev.13-18. You seem to think that prophesy will not happen if enough Protestants refuse to believe it. But be assured, there is coming a slaughtering of the saints of God by a one-world church and a one-world government, because GOD said so! Rev.13:15 says:
"And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed."
John hears a voice from heaven saying "...Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth." (Emphasis mine)
Being a Catholic, you must be aware that the pope will settle for nothing less than ruler of any one- world religion since he already considers himself the spokesperson for God. Perhaps you would enjoy reading Vicars of Christ: The Dark Side of The Papacy by Peter De Rosa.
The newsletter you sent us "The 'Bible Alone' is Not Enough" (a Roman Catholic Quarterly put out by Benedictine Monks of Most Holy Family Monastery) is filled with serious error and countless lies! Example: no.1, "Did Our Lord write any part of the New Testament or command His Apostles to do so?" The answer they give is: "Our Lord Himself never wrote a line, nor is there any record that He ordered his Apostles to write..."
Mr. V.K., in Revelation 1:19, Jesus says to John (an apostle):
"Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter." (Emphasis mine)
Now, we just proved your church lied to you, Jesus did command his apostle John to write! Let's go a little further...in I Thess.5:27, Paul says:
"I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren."(Emphasis mine)
Here we have a command to read, V. K.! I never heard I Thess. read in the Catholic church, and I attended for 30 years, so not only did they lie when they said Jesus never said "write", but they also disobeyed Jesus by not reading what he commanded to be read! Colossians 4:16 says:
"And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea” (Read in conjunction with subscription at the end of I Timothy) (Emphasis mine).
Here we have again another command to read the epistles. So sure were the apostles that what they wrote was the word of God that they even said:
“And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.” (2 Thess.3:14)
Notice how Peter calls the epistles Scriptures in 2 Pet.3:15-16:
"And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction." (Emphasis mine)
Remember V.K. that Jesus is the "author and finisher" of our faith, not the Catholic church! (Heb.12:2) When someone "authors" something, it means he wrote it! The testimony of Jesus was written long before he came. Phillip said to Nathanael:
"We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus..." (Jn.1:42) (Emphasis mine)
Jesus said:
"Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (Jn.5:39) (Emphasis mine)
You see, V.K., the gospel was preached in the Old Testament. Galatians 3:6-9:
"Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham." (Emphasis mine)
The gospel was written thousands of years before Jesus came! Jesus came to fulfill that which was already preached. Notice Romans 16:25-26:
"Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith."(Emphasis mine)
It is evident that the gospel is hidden in the Old Testament ready to be made known as the receiving of Jesus Christ and a circumcision of the heart. Deut.10:16 says, “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.” And again in chapter 30:6:
“And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” (Compare this verse with 2 Cor. 3:14-16)
Why do you suppose that the Bereans were commended as:
"...more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so"[?] (Acts 17:11).
The Bereans were testing the words of the apostles with scripture, establishing that the gospel was in the Old Testament. If there were things being said by the apostles that were not in the O.T., they would not have accepted it. They knew Isaiah 8:20:
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
James 1:21 tells us to:
"...receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
Why do you suppose Proverbs 30:6 says "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar"[?]. Rev.22:18-19, Deut.4:2 and 12:32 also verify this attitude toward God’s Word. Read Psalms 119 (all of it) and remember V.K., God has magnified his word above his name! (Ps.138:2) So be careful when you say that the Word of God is insufficient!
I will go through each of the twenty-five reasons supposedly proving that the "Bible Alone is Not Enough", but I will have to do one point at a time over a period of time. Till then V.K. you should repent of the the first accusation, since Jesus did say to John, "...Write: for these words are true and faithful"! If the Catholic church lied about one thing, what makes you so sure she didn't lie about a whole lot more?
Most Sincere,
Rebecca A. Sexton
Dear Sisters,
Thanks so much for your newsletter. I was saved two years ago after 44 years of attending a Christian (Church of Christ) church. Some would call these “Southern Catholics.” The final straw came when I purchased a book by the name of New Age Bible Versions [by Gail Riplinger] to check out my NIV. Praise God! I wanted to serve the Lord so I felt I was supposed to talk to some people about preaching, passing out tracts, etc. to Vietnamese Catholics that come together at the only Vietnamese Catholic Seminary in the U.S. in Carthage, MO. We got “Chick” to translate 10,000 Last Rites tracts and a half a dozen street preachers to preach the Word. Carthage is a town of 10,000, but in the second week of August, 40,000 to 60,000 Vietnamese come for Marian Days. We hope to get 10,000 Mary’s Command For Catholics from Fellowship Tract League for next year. Can you suggest any tracts appropriate? Over half the Vietnamese read and speak English, we’ve learned. It is a great privilege to be used of the Lord especially when I was so afraid—I am 46, raise cows for a living and have been “charged” by one ton bulls; hit and knocked down by my own cows, kicked and stomped by all sizes and shapes of cattle, dragged and rolled on by horses; had to shoot to kill numerous of the above, but I get really petrified when I hand out tracts to people I will never see again—ain’t that strange?
We also hope to get the “Catholicism: Crisis of Faith” video over-dubbed by some Vietnamese the Lord put us in contact with. Right now I wonder if you could put two Vietnamese on your mailing list. I hope $20.00 will help and if they don’t want to be on your list, you can take them off—eventually! How much a year would you estimate each name costs you?
Thankfully in the Lord,
B.B. of MO
Dear B.B.,
What a beautiful letter! We have a loved one who is in the Church of Christ and unfortunately, she is not quite sure what she believes and trusts the leaders of her church for answers instead of trusting in the precious Word of God. It was very interesting that you used the term “Southern Catholics” because she was raised a Roman Catholic, which is why she wasn’t founded in the Word to begin with. Maybe we should buy her a copy of Gail Riplinger’s book, New Age Bible Versions? We loved it and highly recommend it.
What a joy it is to hear the Lord working in your life in such a wonderful way! To have the opportunity to preach His Word to the Vietnamese is such an obvious blessing. As for your fear when passing out tracts, do not feel alone! My sister and I had a booth at our local county fair, preaching the Word and asking people to sit down and listen to how they could be saved. We were petrified! We were afraid no one would even stop and talk. But even though we were weak and afraid, the Lord sent us people who made us forget our fear and begin to concentrate on the Word of God and the great job He had given us. I’d like to say that we have totally overcome our fear of confronting strangers, but as of yet, we still get butterflies! It sure makes you admire the boldness of Paul, doesn’t it?
We will get in touch with our friends who have tracts and pamphlets, dealing with the errors of Catholicism and see if we can help you out. We also have a few tracts of our own that we will be happy to send you and you are welcome to make as many copies as you would like.
We were happy to add your friends’ names to our mailing list. We also want to thank you for your kind donation. As far as a cost per person a year...we can honestly say we do not know. The costs change every month. We would not want some of our “financially challenged” readers to feel obligated to send us anything, so we never really figured it out. (I say “financially challenged” not because I’m “politically correct”—but because my children and I prefer that term, ha, ha.) We trust the Lord to help us get this out for as long as He will have us do it. We weren’t sure how we would put it out when we had 200 names, but now we are reaching 800 names and we are still going strong. Praise Jesus. He is so good.
We will be in touch with you soon.
Joyfully in the Lord,
Diane M. Schoeppner
Why, why, why is it that Catholic apologists claim that any Catholic who leaves the Church of Rome, was poorly catechetized when just in the Hispanic community alone, 60,000 Catholics a year are leaving the Church, which adds up to over a million over the past 15 years? Were all these Hispanics poorly taught? And what of the millions of others leaving her clutches? If the Catholic Church is their mother then she is guilty of the worst case of child abuse and neglect in the history of the world!! Her children should be taken away, as obviously the Holy Spirit is now doing.
