AN OPEN LETTER TO CHUCK COLSON

Dear Chuck,

Someone emailed me your comments concerning Egypt's human rights abuses. Let me first say that, of course, such actions are an abomination and worthy of condemnation.

My comments will appear stark and straighforward, but at this point, I am at the end of my rope. I have tried for years to teach and be understanding, but I must now conclude that your ignorance is willful. I beg of you to end this ecumenical crusade and defend the faith, once-for-all delivered unto the saints.

I realize that you have been down this road before, but your practice of referring to Catholics as Christians is an abomination to the memory of millions of tortured, abused, and murdered Christians. As you should know, no other organization has butchered more of God's people than the RCC. The difference between Egypt and Rome is that Egypt (in ignorance) is killing people that may or may not have any knowledge of true Christianity. Rome, conversely, specifically singled out the *gospel* for attack.

The Council of Trent (fully affirmed in Vatican II and referenced multiple times in the 1994 Catechism) was convened to SPECIFICALLY condemn the gospel that we hold dear. Your continued willful ignorance of Rome's fale gospel is without excuse. If you refuse to open your eyes to this truth, you are an enemy of Tyndale, Luther, Calvin, Huss, Spurgeon, Savanarola and millions who have been opposed, maligned, condemned, and murdered by Rome for merely stating that salvation is a free gift of God by grace alone.

Mr. Colson, Rome has never and will never change her doctrines of salvation. I know this well because I used to be a Catholic apologist before I was saved. We had ecumenical lessons on how to dupe Christians in the name of some imagined "unity". May I quote Rome herself?:

"The Roman Catholic Church would be gravely misunderstood if it should be concluded that her present ecumenical adventuresomeness and openness meant that she was prepared to reexamine any of her fixed dogmatic positions." -Cardinal Augustin Bea

Don't be fooled Mr. Colson. Who was right Luther or Trent? As a logician, you know that two contradictory "truths" cannot both be true. Either Luther was right or Trent was right. To hold that both are true is illogical, unreasonable, and an act of willful ignorance.

"Let the Protestants of England never forget William Tyndale. His life-work was to bring the Bible within reach even of the humblest peasant. And for no other offence that this, the [Roman] Church hounded him to his death, never resting till it strangled him at the stake and flung his body to the flames." - Sir Robert Anderson (The Silence of God)

Never forget, Mr. Colson.

I am praying that you will learn to love Catholics enough to tell them the truth.

PS: Do you not also realize that the Vatican has been a staunch supporter of the PLO?... and that Vatican II and the new catechism state that Allah is the God of the Bible and that Muslims can "achieve salvation [by] striving to lead a good life"? Knowing these things and ignoring them for earthly unity is an act of pure rebellion.
