MY FRIEND
My friend, I'm faced with judgement now,
I feel that you're to blame somehow.
On earth, we walked together each day,
But never to me, did you convey.
You knew Jehovah and his word of truth;
But never with me did you share the proof.
My knowledge of Jesus you knew was slim,
And you could have led me safely to him.
I called you my friend and I trusted you.
You taught me things I never knew.
You taught me to fish, to ski and skate;
But news of God's Kingdom you did not relate.
We talked about cars, hunting and sports,
But never a word concerning God's thoughts.
You generously shared with me food and drink,
But nothing spiritual to make me think.
You let me work and earn big pay,
You let me laugh and joke, and play.
We watched television late into the night;
Yet not once did you help me see the light.
Though you knew of God's life-saving work,
Me, your friend, you never did write.
Though Kingdom blessing soon will be dawning,
To me, your friend, you never gave warning.
Now condemned I stand this day;
Because you, my friend, did not point the way.
Should not your love have prevented this fate,
Only now, a little too late.
Yes, I once considered you my very dear friend,
One on whom I could always depend.
Yet, on coming down to the final end;
I cannot call you a friend.
