Jimboz Picks: All-time Greatest Dodgers

All-time Greatest Dodgers

Without a doubt, the Dodgers are one of baseball's greatest organizations. Year after year, they field teams that battle valiantly for the top spot in the National League. They've appeared in more World Series than any other National League team, and they've won 6 world championships since 1955.

During it's more than 100 years of operation, a long list of stars have appeared in Dodger blue. Here's my picks for the best among them:

1st Team
1B - Gil Hodges
2B - Jackie Robinson
3B - Ron Cey
SS - Pee Wee Reese
OF - Zack Wheat
OF - Duke Snyder
OF - Willie Davis
C - Roy Campanella
P - Sandy Koufax
P - Don Drysdale
P - Don Sutton
P - Orel Hershiser
Manager - Walter Alston
Announcer - Vin Scully

2nd Team
1B - Steve Garvey
2B - Davey Lopes
3B - Billy Cox
SS - Maury Wills
OF - Dusty Baker
OF - Carl Furillo
OF - Rick Monday
C - Mike Piazza
P - Fernando Valenzuela
P - Carl Erskine
P - Don Newcombe
P - Dazzy Vance
Manager - Tommy Lasorda
Announcer - Red Barber

Honorable mention: Jim Gilliam, Eric Karros, Claude Osteen, Wes Parker, Bill Russell, Mike Scioscia, Reggie Smith.

Rules for consideration: each player must have spent at least 5 years with the Dodgers, and the "significant" portion of his career must have been in Dodger blue. This eliminates those players who had substantial careers but only average performance or minimal service with the Dodgers.
