"Tizedes a pozsonyi huszárezredben. Midõn a Mesko féle hadtestnek a Chastellerével való egyesülése után egy, 300 lovasból álló különítményt szerveztek azért, hogy Kõszeg és Sopron kõrnyékén kémszemlét tartson, s ehhez a pozsonyi lovasezred 100 embert adott, e tizedes egyedül vágta ki Fekete József közvitézt mikor ennek lovát lelõtték, õt pedig 5 Chasseurs (vadász katona) vette körül, azáltal, hogy õ egy Chasseurt levágott és kettõt megsebesített.

Kiscellénél e tizedes egyedül hat embert fogott el; ezekér vitézségének elismeréséöl az éremosztó bizottság javaslatára Õfelsége az esüst érdemkeresztet adományozta neki"

"Corporal in the Pozsony Hussars Regiment (during the Insurrection of the Nobles against Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809.)

Following the union of Mesko's Corps with that of Chasteller, a unit of 300 hussars was set up for the purpose of reconnaissanceing the surroundings of Sopron and Kõszeg towns. The Pozsony Hussars' contribution to this unit was 100 horsemen. When the horse of hussar József Fekete was shot from under him and he became surrounded by 5 Chasseurs, this corporal cut down one and wounded two; he single handed rescued Fekete.

At Kiscelle, he captured and took prisoners six enemy soldiers, unaided

In recognition of his bravery, on recommendation of the Commission for Medals, His Imperial Majesty awarded him the Silver Cross of Merit.
