Adomány –levél= Letter of Gift, Letter of Grant

Adományozni= To grant, to confer a title on somebody

Adományozó= A donor

Al-ispán= Vice Lord Lieutenant (of a County, in Government)

Csendör=Quasi military policeman (in rural areas only), gendarme.

Csendörség= Gendarmerie

Esperes= Dean (of the Church, above a parish priest)

Fö-ispán= Lord Lieutenant ( of a County, in Government )

Fö-nemes= lit. a Major Noble, an aristocrat, a baron, a viscount, a count.

Fundus= A parcel of land, egy Telek

Hadnagy= Prefect of a village (with more power than today’s mayor), a Lieutenant in the military

Ispán= Overseer (of an estate, in agriculture)

Járás= Riding/Shire

Kis/köz-nemes= A minor noble(man), a gentry,

Kör-jegyzö= District Secretary (of Local Government)

Köz-jegyzö= Public notary

Kör-orvos= District Medical Officer (of Local Government)

K.u.K= Kaiser und Königliche (Császár és Királyi)

Megye= County

Mezö= Meadow, Grassland, Pasture

Mezö város= Lit. "Market town", population usually between 2,000 and 10,000.

Nádor= The highest ranking nobleman, practically a vice roy.

Nemes= A noble (man)

Öreg-atya= Grandfather

Plebánia= Parish (Church)

Plebános= Parish priest

Szent Korona= The Crown of (Szent) István 1st; the symbolic source of power and authority of all Hungarian kings.

Szolga-bíró= Sheriff

Tábla-bíró= Justice of the King’s Bench
