Corporal in the Pozsony Hussars Regiment during the Insurrection of the Nobles against Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809.
Following the union of Mesko's Corps with that of Chasteller, a unit of 300 hussars was set up for the purpose of reconnaissanceing the surroundings of Sopron and Köszeg towns. The Pozsony Hussars' contribution to this unit was 100 horsemen. When the horse of hussar József Fekete was shot from under him and became surrounded by 5 Chasseurs,
Dávid Csiba killed one and wounded two of them; rescued Fekete.
At Kiscelle, he single handed captured and took prisoners six enemy soldiers.
In recognition of his bravery, on recommendation of the Commission for Medals, His Imperial Majesty awarded him the Silver Cross of Merit.
