Torie March 2002

August 1996 - If you had previously read my description on Torie, you know that she was not born at the first posting of this web site. She was due on August the 12th. Well, as luck would have it she wasn't born until August the 22nd. She was 6 lbs. 11 oz., 22 inches, and quite the little yeller at birth. (So was her mother.) We're home now and she isn't quite the same as she was in the hospital. She has become much more vocal. But if you had 5 sister's fawning over you and not letting you sleep I guess you might not be so happy either. I'll keep you updated on her progress.

UPDATE (November 1996): Torie has paid us all back in spades. This is the first week out of 10 that she has gone to bed at a decent hour (by our standards) at least 2 nights in a row. She has had the bad habit of staying up until 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. Then I or her father would have to be up by 8 to take the little girls to school. Usually me. 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night has not been getting it. This week I started laying down with her between 11 and 12 and she has been sleeping for 8 to 9 hours straight. Hooray! I took her for a check up at 3 weeks and she weighed 8 lbs. She went for another checkup on Nov. 1st and she now weighs 11 lbs. 13 oz. That puts her at gaining 1/2 lb a week. I thought she was getting awfully big. At this rate she'll weigh 25 lbs when she is 6 months old. Oh No!!! She is a very happy baby when there is nothing wrong. Not hungry, not wet, not sleepy etc. She will break out in the biggest smile and sometimes even laugh. Yes, at 10 wks she can really laugh. She's got an obvious personality. The doctor says she's doing fine. Keep you updated.

UPDATE (December 15,1996): Torie is now 3½ months old nearly 4. She is one of the largest babies I have seen at that age. Very tall, weighs over 12 lbs no problem, may be over 13 it has been nearly 6 weeks since she was weighed at 11 lbs 12 oz. She has taken to sleeping all night now every night. What a wonderful thing for us to not be kept up any later than we want to stay awake. I am so happy with my little one, she is the prettiest thing when she smiles. She has learned to scream now and it is amazing how well she can do. For no reason at all she will just start screaming this is not a high pitch squeal but a low deep rumble that she does. Kind of cute until the 7th or 8th time, then I have to distract her somehow. She can roll over on the water bed but not on a flat surface. Have started laying her on the floor to increase her chances of mobility. Usually she just goes to sleep, doesn't care for being put on her stomach. But I do it anyway. Won't ever learn to use those muscles otherwise.

UPDATE (May 13,1997): Torie is almost 9 months old (May 22). Babies grow so very, very fast. Hard for me to believe that she is doing all that she does already. She says mama, crawls faster than I can walk, pulls herself up on anything that is stationary for 15 seconds, and knows who her family is. She can recognize strangers now and definitely looks at them as if they are strange. She can "love me" and kissing is one of her favorite things. Her most favorite thing I think is to try to type while "mama" is trying to input info in the computer. She is going to grow up being computer savvy. Good thing too. I like to chat on IRC and the people that I chat with all like to play sounds to her and send me messages to say to her. Won't be long and she will be answering them all back. She is getting pretty big, she is over 2 foot tall now and weighs over 17 lbs. Very healthy. We have her on table foods at least 5 days out of the week, and every meal is a new experience for her. Torie loves to eat and I can't blame her, I cook pretty good food!! Well this is all for the current update. Check out the photo page for more pics of my family and especially these cute babies!!

UPDATE (Feb 13,1998): Sorry I have waited so long to put in an update on the munch kin, but I surely wouldn't want to bore any repeat readers with monthly reports of my youngest child. But here is a near year later report on her: My Torie is a real wonder to me. One day she is so grown up for her age and the next she is back to crawling on all fours. The joys of being a baby and unpredictable. Her vocabulary has grown tremendously. She can now make concepts known to me, not just with words but with actions. She knows how to say, though not perfectly well, all of her sisters names, and her niece. He he, I get a kick out of that one, as you may know my granddaughters name is Karrah (pronounced Car-uh) but it comes out of Torie sounding like KaKa, I really have to laugh when Torie is running through the house yelling that out. As for her health and growth she is progressing nicely and normally, she may be a tad on the small side but all my girls have been small and all are doing fine. There really is not a lot to add to her update, she is still as interested in my computer as ever and now "daddy" has one too and she is right in there on that one too. She walks and talks some and oh yeah, you might get a kick out of this, she loves to put on coats, anyone's coat, it doesn't matter, upside down, inside out, the right way, as long as it is a coat...then she walks up to me and in a really high pitched baby voice she says "BYE BYE". Cute very cute.

UPDATE (March 25, 1999)  I have no idea where to start with this one, she has grown so much and does so many more things now, I think I will just show you some more pictures of her and see if you can decide what she must be able to do these days. :)
