From Madison County Will Book 1, p 156-157
Will of Andrew Deer. ..I lend to my dearly beloved wife,
Susannah Deer, my houses, plantations and all my land containing seventy
five acres .. together with all the rest of my property during her widowhood
which land and property she is to occupy as she may find it most beneficial
for herself and my children, and also to assist any of my children as they
come of age or marry by furnishing of them with such necessaries as can
be spared .. but if my beloved wife above mentioned should see cause to
marry before my youngest child then living should be of age, it is my desire
the whole of my estate be sold .. and for my wife to receive what the law
allows her .. I appoint Cornelius Carpenter, John Addam Yager and John
Deer, executors .. this 12th day of February 1797 ..

1. Garland, et. al. in the Deer Family speculated that
this ancestor's name was Noah Deer based on the fact that a grandson named
Noah Deer claimed to be his namesake. In fact his name was Andrew
Deer, Andreas Hirsch to give the proper German form. Hirsch translates
from German to English as deer, or more specifically stag.
