My HOLMAN ancestors immigrated from Cornwall, England to Ishpeming, MI about April-August of 1891 and lived there until they moved to Montana in 1898. The parents were William and Ellen(nee CARPENTER) HOLMAN. Their children were Emily, Elizabeth, William, Pitho, Barcy, Wilfred, Meapris. The most perplexing problem I've had is this: Did William the father come to the U.S or stay in England or die on the boat or what? ANYTHING will be a tremendous help!!! Thanks!

Looking for information on LaBlanc White from Marquette: Here is what I know...to date: I am trying to find information on my grandfather, John LaBlanc. He has passed away, and I know very little about him. John LaBlanc was either 1/2 or 1/4 Michigan Chippewa Indian from his mothers side. His father (unknown name - was French) Looking for birth certificate, death certificate, any info on him or his family. I thought he was the same John LaBlanc, who was born in Gould City, Mackinaw Co., Michigan, but now I think he was a cousin of this John LaBlanc. I had thought he was born April 9, 1897..now not sure. I was in contact with a brother of the John LaBlanc from Gould City, Mackinaw Co., Michigan, and he said MY JOHN LABLANC wasn't his brother, but he remebered him- thought he was a cousin or 2nd cousin. This man I contacted said he send info and never did. His name is Louie LaBlanc from Cheboygan, MI. John LaBlanc lived at 550 Star Route in a log cabin, in Marquette and died about 1975, was Catholic...but not practicing, I don't think. I believe he should be buried up in Marquette. He was married once to a Nellie Brown/Dodge, divorced about 1930-35. had one daughter - Jacqueline Hope LaBlanc (my mother- also now dead) She, Jacqueline Hope LaBlanc (my mother) lived with her father (John LaBlanc) off and on as a child. She went to elementry school there at one time. My mother (Jacqueline Hope LaBlanc) divorced my father, Norman Arthur Howell in 1972 in California, and remarried a Kenneth Montagna from Marquette abt. 1974-5, then divorced him abt 1982. I know Ken Montagna is also dead now... John LaBlanc was sometimes known as Jack. I believe LaBlanc could have earlier been spelled LeBlanc and I know it does mean White. John LaBlanc was a fisherman and had his own boat. He also had a gravel business on his land at 550 Star Rt. in Marquette. John LaBlanc remarried about 1955, to a woman named Gertie. I do not know her maiden name. She studied nursing at the university, and later taught it I believe. I have tried and can't find her in phone book. She was quite a bit younger than my grandfather, so she may still be alive. I would guess her to be about 75. I live in Key West, FL so a trip up north is not really possible at this time.
