Space Center Houston
On a recent visit to Galveston, I had a chance to drive to the Space Center in Houston. Unfortunately, I missed John Glenn's return to space on the "Discovery" by a couple of weeks.
I recommend taking the tram ride. It tours different areas located on the vast grounds. Mission control was especially interesting to see and the guides gave good detailed information at each stop. Another stop on the tram tour allowed us to see a mock-up shuttle used for training purposes before the astronauts ascend into space.
Within the main building is the "Starship Gallery", with displays of various lunar equipment models, and a film to view.
There are also huge photos displayed on some of the walls, interesting games to exercise the mind for the children, an eating establishment, and, of course, several gift shops.
Now, a few photos for your viewing pleasure.
Welcome to Space Center Houston.
My son sat in the front section of a model of a shuttle.
A lunar rover.
Here is one of the shutttles.
Speaking of large pics on the walls there . . . . .
The nose of the mock-up training space shuttle.
