104th NY Infantry
Wadsworth Guards


  The 104th NY, also known as the Wadsworth Guards, were organized March 4, 1862. The companies were recruited from the following communities: A- Nunda, B- Springwater, C- Centreville, D- Geneseo, E- Groveland, F- Rochester, G- Fowlerville, H & I- Troy, K- Cohoes. They were assigned mainly to the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 5th Corps, Army of the Potomac.
  During their service for the Union they were in the following major engagements: 2nd Bull Run, Antietham, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Mine Run, The Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad, Appomattox. They were mustered out on July 17, 1865. The Regiment suffered a total loss of 7 officers and 230 men killed during their years of service.
