141st NY Infantry


  The 141st Ny Infantry were organized at Elmira, NY on September 11, 1862. The companies were recruited from the following communities: A- Orange, Hector, Reading, B- Tyrone Wayne, C- Elmira, D- Corning, E- Bath, F- Hornellsville, G- Addison, Woodhull, H- Howard, I & K- Elmira. They were assigned mainly to the 1st Division, 20th Corps.
  During their service for the Union they were in the following major engagements: Defense of Washington, Sherman's Atlanta Campaign and the March to the Sea, Savannah. They were mustered out on June 8, 1865. The Regiment lost a total of 6 officers and 243 men killed during their service.
