ALEXANDER BEERS came from County Galway, Ireland along with his life-long pal, Patrick Lee. They were both about 16 years old and their ship was driven back several times by bad storms. Patrick said if he ever reached America, he would never shave again. He did, so he didn't! Alex was badly burned in a hotel fire in Jeanette, Pa. which they chose for a hometown. Both men were drunken Irish coalminers and Alex's son was: William Henry Beers, who married Patrick's daughter, Maria (pronounced: Mariah) Lee. William was also a drunken coalminer and settled in Braddock, Pa. (a Pittsburgh suburb). Their children were: Margaret, who died young; Cora, who became a schoolteacher (Beers School Road in Coraopolis, Pa.); and James Raymond Beers. James was a machinist, who after trying to make a start in Akron, Oh. eventually settled in East Palestine, Ohio and married Ethel Hulton. They had two daughters: Thelma and Alma Beers. Thelma married James H. McCready and Alma married Frederick C. Doll. Fred and Alma were my parents.
