Deckhand

Hi, my name is "Kachoo" and I am new to the crew. I'm about four years old and this is the biggest adventure I've ever had.

My new mom saw me in a the pet store (Paradise Pets) where she does all her business and my brothers and sisters stay when mom and dad go away. She just fell in love with my aggressive personality and amusing antics. She used to come into the shop to visit me all the time, so one day my dad came in with a cage and took me home for a "test drive". You see, we had to determine if I would fit in with all my brothers and sisters (other crew members) and if the Captain, that's PIRATE, would approve of me.

At first, I was pretty nippy and bit my mom a lot because I felt strange and was afraid, but the night before she was going to send me back I started feeling comfortable and started being very good.

Now I step up and she can pet me and everything, I even lay my little head on her breast and go to sleep while she holds me. I really love my new home and my furry and feathered siblings.

When I forget and nip my mom, my brother PIRATE says "That's bad!", just because he's the Captain, he thinks he runs everything. Being a Macaw, he pretty much does. Back to me.

When my dad comes home from work and everyone is clamoring for his attention, I say "Hello" and when he gives me a kiss, I say "Thank You". I also say "Quack, quack" when mom sings "Old McDonald had a farm" to me.

I make people laugh a lot, especially when I beat my toys on the cage before I throw them down. I hang around on my cage all day and never fly down and go off getting into trouble like my brother "Casey Cockatoo" does. Sometimes if I feel like taking a nap, I go into my cage and shut the doors so I can rest. I eat everything my folks give me and am really learning how to be good while maintaining my fiesty spirit.

Sometimes, my feathered siblings and me get to talking back and forth, we may even end up screaming at each other. Gee, what a surprise! When this happens, my mom and dad get a little upset for as you can imagine, all together we can make quite a racket. Even I get a headache.
