"Plenty," and "Quarrel," containing respectively three hundred and seventy-five, three hundred and eight)'-five, and three hundred and seventy-eight acres. These bodies of land were situated on Lick Run of Buffalo Creek, the run passing through the tract "Peace. "---At the time of the survey, August 11, 1785, the land was in Donegal Township, but came within the limits of Finley upon its erection. "'

 

Page 745 (Donegal Township): ' "William BONAR was of Scotch-lrish descent. On January 28, 1797, he purchased one hundred and sixty acres of land of Charles BONAR, a part of the three hundred and seventy-five acre tract called "'Quarrel," for which Charles BONAR received a patent in 1786.

Barnet BONAR, a son of (this) William BONAR, married Miss Jane DONOUGHEY...t' (DONAGHY is the correct spelling).

This "Miss BONAR"' is Sarah BONAR (born 8 April 1786) , a daughter of the above mentioned William BONAR and wife, Sarah McELLIOTT (or McELWRATH/McELWREATH) Dr. John BYERS (born 22 July 1786) was a son of Thomas BYERS of Washington County. Thomas was one of the executors of the 4 March 1814 Last Will and Testament of William BONAR. Dr. John BYERS and his first-wife, Sarah BONAR, are great, great grandparents of the compiler, Marion Stark CRAIG, M.D., 300 Beckwood Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205.

 

The information that McELLIOTT (or McELWRATH/McELWREATH) was the maiden surname of Sarah, wife of Wil1iam BONAR, I"ve taken from BONAR GENEALOGY (1969) by BROWN.

 

On 17 May 1836, Sarah BONAR of Donegal Township, Washington County, widow of William BONAR (dec’d), signed her Last Will and Testament. It is recorded on page 457 of Will Book  “5.”' A abstract follows :
