My Research on the

My research on the Campbell's has barely begun. I tend to concentrate on one line of research at a time, so please forgive me for having so little. What I have found has come from family sources as well as the Family History Center (FHC) of the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

The Campbell's are linked to my family by a marriage between Alexander Leslie and Elizabeth Campbell, both from Northern Ireland. At this point, it is not know if they knew each other prior to leaving for America. There are McCleery's married into the Leslie line and therefore it's possible that they were aware of each other while still in Northern Ireland.

Elizabeth's father was Robert Campbell, rumors indicating that Robert was born in either Glasgow or Port Glasgow, Scotland. He then went to Northern Ireland, probably for employment. He married Elizabeth "Charlotte" McCleery (or Cleery). They resided in Ballygillan, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. At this point, we know of six children for this family.
