This Old Branch
Being a descendent of David and Mary McWhirter, my abbreviated pedigree through my mother looks like this:
There are a few great sources for information on this particular line. They are:
All these people have helped me one way or another in developing my database. Another valuable source for all McWh*rters (that '*' means any spelling of the surname), is Alan McWhirter, Editor of the McWh*rter Genealogy Newsletter. Take this link to get to Alan's Web page Alan has a quarterly publication that is a great source of information and to find out more about it, simply email him. He also keeps an extensive database for any McWh*rter surname. He can help you track information or you can submit your info to him for permanent storage. This can be helpful to both you and others researching a particular line. Back to details. Most of the information that I have on this branch came from my great-aunt Helen McWhorter, cousin Wayne, and cousin Pat, and the Family Bible. In the Bible, Berry Walker McWhorter first began writing valuable information concerning births, marriages, and deaths. After Berry, the Bible went along to Mildred McWhorter, his niece and my great-aunt, and she continued to record information. Mildred was even kind enough to rewrite what Berry wrote, which made the information easier to decipher. After Mildred's death, the Bible went to cousin Pat Jones. So this is where I am at today. I have a pretty extensive record of my particular branch and if you have questions, please email me or check out my Family Tree Maker Homepage. There are reports on this page that will give you my current research. Happy Hunting to All!
