I removed more than half of this wall. It really opened up this area. The side door entrance to the house is to the rear right. As you can see I love plants.

In order to hide wiring and the remainder of the walls that were removed I installed a T-bar type ceiling using a 2" x 2' lowered profile ceiling tile.

As you can figure, most of the wiring for the kitchen was in the walls I removed. My attic does not have much room, height wise and it is full of insulation. I decided to run the new wiring across the ceiling and down other walls.

In order to give the illusion of height I installed a 6"h x 8"w valance around the perimeter of the ceiling. The tile is 4" lower than the original ceiling.

All of the shelves in the lower cabinets are pull out. This allows very easy access to everything that is on them.

Another pull out shelf for the kid's cereals.

I put a plastic wrap dispenser on this shelf. Just put the item to be covered on the shelf, pull the wrap out and over and then put the item in the fridge or even the microwave directly behind. See nothing to it.

More pull out drawers below the stove top.

Even the garbage is pulled out. One bin is for stuff we burn in our incinerator and the other is for non-combustable and non-recycled garbage. We recycle lots of stuff too.

The cutlery drawer has two levels. The top one slides back to reveal the items in the bottom.

Solid oak was used for all of the face frames and doors. Oak veneer and oak melamine was used for the main cabinets, shelves and drawer bottoms. I planed oak boards down to 1/2" for the drawer sides, backs and fronts.

The solid oak boards I used were good 3 sides, 13/16"+ thick and had alot of, as I call it "charater" in them, (strong grain) as you can see. The doors took along time to make. They all turned out great though, don't you think?

I bought an Amana side by side refridgerator that has an ice and water dipenser. It is hooked up to a water distiller. The wall oven and gas stove top are also from Amana. The microwave is a Panosonic and the dishwasher is an ASKO.

This is the before east wall shot where I removed one window and added another larger picture window.

This is the after result.

Another angle.
