Pie Crust (or buy ready-made): 1 cup lard 1/2 cup boiling Water 3 cups flour salt (to taste) This is a regular recipe, double it for a top and bottom crust pie. Melt lard with boiling water, add flour and salt, blend well. Chill until you can work it, then roll it out. Filling: 6-8 Apples 1 cup sugar 3 tblsp flour 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp nutmeg Add all ingredients together in a bowl, mix to coat apples. Fill pie crust high with mixture. Apples will cook down, fill to about a 1/2 inch or so above the pie pan. Cover with a second layer of crust, pierce with a knife in several places to vent. Top with 1 tbspn butter or margarine and 1 tsp sugar. Bake at 375 for about an hour and 10 minutes. |
