Using the Advanced HTML Editor
If you have a good working knowledge of HTML coding, you may wish to try using this editor. No point-and-click. No fill-in-the-blanks. No composer limitiations. Using the Advanced HTML editor and your knowledge of HTML, the only limit is your imagination!
This editor allows you to add more features to your site than any other method. You can add java effects, music, change font characteristics (size, color, even the font itself), drop-down menus, buttons... whatever you want!
To access this editor, start at the GeoCities Home Page. Click the "sign in" link, and log on using your GeoCities member name and password.
Next, click the "Edit Pages" box. On the next page, click the button labeled, "Enter the File Manager."
Select the file you wish to edit by clicking the check box to the left of the file name, then click the "Edit" button. The Advanced HTML Editor is the default editor. Your file's source code will be displayed so that you can edit it online. Make your changes, then click the "Save" button to update your file.
You can also create new HTML files. Click the "New" button. You will see an input box asking for the name of the new file. Enter a file name (including the .html extension), then type your HTML code in the edit box. When finished, click "Save". Your new file will be saved and is ready to be accessed!
It is beyond the scope of this page to provide HTML tutorials. There are a number of HTML resource sites available, as well as instruction books. GeoCities Community Leaders also provide basic and advanced HTML instruction through WebTech University, at no cost! You can find links to these sites on my Links page.
