This is the first variation of two for this theme...
Besides having a side-border background, I've created some textures which can be used in tables to create the illusion of "framing" your page (for an example, please see my HomePage). You'll find those textures below, along with an explanation of how to use them.

Using Tables to "Frame" your Page
Which is not the same as using frames...

It might be a good idea to see this before reading the following - it will be easier to understand if you've seen it "in action" :o) Then, you'll need to download each of these three background textures:

bluedk_trip.jpg bluemed_trip.jpg bluelt_trip.jpg

The dark blue texture is used in the same way as any other background - in your <body> tag, add background="bluedk_trip.jpg". The medium and light blue textures will be placed into two seperate tables, like this:

<TABLE BACKGROUND="bluemed_trip.jpg" BORDER="1" BORDERCOLOR="#024380" WIDTH="90%" ALIGN="CENTER" CELLPADDING="0" CELLSPACING="0">
  <TR>
  <TD>
  <BR>
  <BR>
  <BR>
    <TABLE BACKGROUND="bluelt_trip.jpg" BORDER="1" BORDERCOLOR="#C1DEF9" WIDTH="85%" ALIGN="CENTER" CELLPADDING="5" CELLSPACING="0">
    <TR>
    <TD align=middle>

This area, following the code for the tables, is where your actual "page" goes - all of your images, text, and so on, go here. Then, at the end of your page, just before the </body> tag, you'll need to "close" your two tables, like this:

    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <br>
    <br>
    <br>
      </td>
      </tr>
      </table>
    <br>
    <br>
    <br>

- this is the end of your page... your </body> tag should come next.

Please feel free to copy and paste the table codes into your HTML file - it's the quickest and easiest way to get your page "framed" with tables :o) If you change the names of the textures, remember to make the same changes in your HTML file, otherwise your backgrounds will not show up. To change the look of your page, experiment with the "width" of the tables, add or remove <br> tags between the tables, or vary the width and color of the border for each table. All you need to be careful of is to ensure that you always have the same number of opening table tags as closing tags... otherwise, your page may not show up (especially with Netscape). If you'd like to learn a little more about tables, have a look here, or e-mail me with your question :o)
