From her personal archives, Josefina Estacion submitted a well-preserved Forty-niner Cavitenan. In that 1949 issue, published was a wonderful article, where selected 49er's amplified on their personal opinions of "My Ideal Girl" and "My Ideal Man." Excerpts from that article are featured here. Compiled fifty years ago by our very own - Erlinda C. Pangco and Deseo G. del Rosario. |

My Ideal Girl Compiled by Deseo G. Del Rosario '49 |

She is the embodiment of all womanly traits and virtues, with good character and pure heart. She does not easily yield to modern trends. - Venancio E. Montoya |
Above all, she is not a fickle-minded girl, not so beautiful, neither so ugly. J She is religious, loves dancing and music. - Ernesto C. Santos |
She is almost a perfect creation of God, true glory of the angels, rare miracle of the earth and the sole wonder of the world. - Romeo P. Alberto |

Des submits one for the funny bone "Classmates: After forty-nine years, mag-kaaway pa rin" |
Palibhasa'y kapwa matalino, mahigpit na mag-kaaway ang dalawang dating magclassmates sa high school. After forty-nine years, nagkita uli sila sa elevator ng hotel after attending their conventions. One is now a Navy Captain wearing his all white uniform complete with nameplate and white officers cap. Ang isa naman ay isang Obispo na, attending a Bishop Conference, dressed in his complete church regalia including the Bishops hat, robes, and tukod with his name inscribed. Pretending not to recognize one another, ganito ang usapan nila: BISHOP: Mister Bell Boy, pakitawag nga ako ng taksi. NAVY CAPTAIN: Aba Misis, sa inyong kalagayan ay hindi na kayo dapat nag ta-travel. J |
