Family Tree Maker (TM) FAQ 038
In Descendant GenRpts, why do some children appear in the next generation, and others do not?

Children are carried forward to the next generation only if they had offspring. These reports were designed by genealogists primarily for proving descendancies and bloodlines. Children without offspring represent dead ends, with no point in carrying them forward. Any data associated with DSP children is displayed by FTM with their entry in their parent's offspring list.

Most FTM users are employing these reports for other purposes, and many would like to see all the children appear in the next generation, whether they, themselves, had children or not. The program owners have been petitioned numerous times to include an option to  change the report format in this fashion.

DSP = descessit non prole = died without issue.
