For meritorious service in the significant improvement of the administrative, professional, and material condition of the Naval Technical Training Center, Treasure Island, from 1 January 1987 to 31 December 1988. During this period, the Naval Technical Training Center, Treasure Island, successfully initiated and completed a myriad of self-help projects as a cost savings exceeding two million dollars. The renovation of existing, one-of-a-kind equipment ensured that scheduled training was never lost. The design and construction of new training aids and system mock-ups ensures that Damage Controlman "A" School students receive state-of-the-art training. In light of the extensive and hazardous training involving live fires, RADIAC sources, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials, the safety record of the Naval Technical Training Center, is outstanding. There have been no major/reportable personnel incidents. Extensive involvement in the community presents a respected image of the U.S. Navy to the citizens you serve. Through dedication to superior training, facility maintenance, and administrative competence, the officers and enlisted personnel of the Naval Technical Training Center, Treasure Island, reflected great credit upon themselves, and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
