HINNERSCHIETZ FAMILY

The Hinnerschietz family began with Johann George Hinterschied who was born in April, 1724 in Germany.  To the best of our knowledge Johann George Hinterschied and his wife Maria Catherine embarked on their journey while Maria Catherine was carrying their first child sailing from Rotterdam and landing in the port of Philadelphia on the Edinburgh on September 15,1749.
After staying in Philadelphia for a short while they moved to Alsace Township, Berks County where they first appeared on the tax list in 1768.  He became a squatter on a tract of land in Oley and later became owners of that property.  Both he and his wife are buried in Spies's Church Cemetery and are said to be one of the founders of that church.  The children of this couple were Jacob, Conrad, George & Maria.      Most of Johann George Hinterschied's children remained in the Alsace Township, Berks County area except for Conrad who is believed to have later moved to Bedford County.
Johann George Hinterschied's son Conrad married Susanna Hartman and they had the following children:   Isaac, John, Joseph, William, Harriet, Ann and Susanna. The name of Conrad's children were all Hinnershitz which is the spelling of most of the family who remained in Berks County.
Son Joseph was the ancestor who removed himself to Lehigh County, PA where he and his family lived and branched out to form what is now the Hinnerschietz family.  It is believed that Joseph married Hannah in Berks County and then came to Lehigh County sometime around 1840.  Joseph and Hannah had the following children:  Michael, Elizabeth, John D. & Joseph.  Michael married and his family lived primarily in the Macungie area and currently go by the spelling of Hinnerschietz.  Joseph married and his family lived in the Allentown area and they seem to have used the spelling of Hinnerschitz.  John D. married Fayetta Roth in Lower Macungie in 1868.  As far as I can tell they had 5 children prior to his death in 1882. He is buried in the Emmanuel United Bretheran Church Cemetery in East Texas, PA.  The names of the children were Hannah, Millie, Lizzie, Edgar G. and William H.  Edgar is my husband's great grandfather. Take a look at the   Church and Cemetery Records  I have collected on this family as well as some other great links that have helped me in my research.
