LAROSE FAMILY
This family began with Honore Fervac LaRose who married Therese Barra in St-Etienne diocese de Tournai, Flanders, Belgium. They immigrated to Canada prior to 1761 and settled in Riviere des Prairies. They had a son Joseph Arnould Fervac LaRose who married Agathe Fouet LaCroix daughter of Jacques Fouet LaCroix and Agathe Goguet. Joseph and Agathe were married September 21, 1761 in Riviere des Prairies. They had four children: Joseph Farvac LaRose, Francois Fervac LaRose, Jacques Fervac LaRose and Agathe Fervac LaRose.
Joseph Farvac LaRose married Marie Anne Michaud on November 23, 1795 in St. Louis de Terrebonne (Quebec). They had two sons that we know of, Georges Narcisse Farvaque dit LaRose and Joseph Fervac LaRose. Georges Narcisse married Hypollite Content on June 30, 1818 in St. Charles de Lachenaie, Quebec. They had 13 children: Marie Emelie, Marie Caroline, Selia, George Pierre, Madeliene Rachel, Adelaide Rachel, Isabelle, Joseph Martin, Marie Anne, Charles Alfred, Marie Adelaide, Louis Mathais, and Edward Octave.
Georges Pierre immigrated to the US about 1841. It is unknown if he was married prior to coming to the US or if he married Tersia after he came to the US. He settled in Beekmantown where he was naturalized on October 12, 1846. George and Tersia had 4 children. They were Nelson LaRose born 2/28/1843 in Plattsburgh, NY, Maria born about 1846 in Plattsburgh, NY, Daniel born abt 1857 in Pennsylvania and Franklin B also born in Pennsylvania about 1860. They settled in Blakely Township, Luzerne County, PA.
Nelson LaRose married Eliza Young on 12/25/1865 in Elm Park Methodist Church in Scranton, PA. Nelson was a painter by trade. He served in the Civil War in the 52nd regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers. He mustered in on November 3, 1861, was promoted to Corporal on November 13, 1864 and mustered out on November 5, 1864 at the expiration of his term. He served with honor until the close of the war. Nelson was a man honored and respected in the community for his many fine qualities of head and heart, honest and upright in all his dealings, and of a kind and gentle nature. He was a member of Ezra Griffin post, G.A.R. Nelson LaRose was speaking at a reception tendered by the Epworth league of the Providence M.E. church to their returned members of the Thirteenth regiment when he was suddenly stricken with faintness and was helped to a chair. A physician was summoned, who pronounced it an attack of appoplexy. He was taken to his home and everything done to relieve him, but he died about 8 hours later. Nelson LaRose and Eliza Young had four children: Joseph LaRose, George LaRose, Gertrude LaRose, and Emma Jean LaRose.
Joseph LaRose was born 9/16/1884 in Scranton, PA. He married Carolyn Green, daughter of Thomas Green and Mary Ann Collins. They had two children: James Archibald LaRose and Raymond Joseph LaRose.
James Archibald LaRose was born 7/22/1908. He married Myrtle Belle Williams, daughter of James Williams and Mary Jane Cuthbertson. James died 10/15/1985 in Kingston, PA.
Raymond Joseph LaRose was born 7/22/1912. He never married. He died of heart disease in March, 1947 in Scranton, PA at the age of 35 years old.
