In 1868 William Richard Williams came to America leaving behind his wife and 8 children and a grandchild, Ann, left to them to be raised as one of their own children.  He came to Taylor, Pennsylvania to work in a coal mine as this was the type of work he had been doing in Wales.  Two years later, in 1870, he was in a position to send for his wife and 7 children and his grandchild named as follows:  Mary Ann, Richard, William, Henry (known as Harry), George, Elizabeth, David and his granddaughter Ann.  Their other daughter, Sarah, married Thomas Griffiths in Wales but later joined her family in this country.

The entire family lived in Phelpsland in Taylor and later moved to Taylor Flats.  At the time of William Richard Williams death on 8/8/1884 they were living on Union Street in Taylor.  William Richard Williams was 61 years of age when he passed away.  Mary Allin Williams passed away on 2/10/1885 at the age of 60.  They are both laid to rest in Memorial Cemetery on Main Street in Taylor.  A son, George, is buried in the David Williams plot in Forest Home Cemetery, Taylor.

Ann, who after the death of her Grandparents, although being blind kept house for her brothers, Harry, George and Dave.  She lost her eyesight at the age of 20.  Everything possible was done to try to restore her sight in the early years of her blindness but all efforts were in vain.  She was totally blind for the past 63 years.  Ann passed away on 10/26/1950 at the age of 83.  She is resting in the Williams plot in Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, PA.
