The program is structured to include individual and group counseling as well as educational programming. Parenting classes are taught along with daily living skills which include such things as raising self-esteem, decision-making, listening skills, etc. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are also an integral part of the program. Learning to find support in the AA/NA community is part of the lifestyle change encouraged through the program. Children also participate by taking part in a children's group and by living in a stuctured, safe environment. Horizon/Serenity House helps to rebuild the family through caring, love and trust in a homelike environment. Staff link the women to community resources such as housing and job programs to help their transition back into the community.
