Tell me MORE!

In the 4 chapters of the book of Ruth we learn that Ruth was a woman who chose to be faithful to God. Most people at this time were not faithful to the God of Israel. God decides to give a reward to Ruth for her faithfulness and He gives her a husband and a son. Ruth will become the great-grandmother of David and also will be related to Jesus Christ.

Chapter 1

In chapter 1, Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi, leave the country of Moab to go to Judah. Ruth's husband named Mahlon had died and Ruth wanted to make Judah her home and to make the God of Israel her God also.

Chapter 2

Naomi had a relative named Boaz. Boaz was a very wealthy man and he became fond of Ruth. Boaz allowed Ruth to come into his fields and to gather grain.

Chapter 3

Boaz wants to marry Ruth but Ruth is supposed to marry another man. Boaz doesn't know what to do.

Chapter 4

Boaz is allowed to marry Ruth and he also buys the land that had belonged to Naomi's husband. Boaz and Ruth get married and God gives them a son.

WHEN did all these events take place?
Between 1375 BC and 1050 BC

The book of Ruth is a short book and you might be wondering what this book is really about.
We can see a picture of Jesus in Boaz.
Boaz gave freely to marry and take care
of Ruth. Jesus also gives freely to those
who believe and trust in Him for salvation. Ruth and Boaz have a little baby named Obed. From Obed comes the ancestoral line of Jesus Christ.

What Do You Think?

The book of Ruth shows us a great deal about loyalty. Ruth was loyal to God
and God was loyal to Ruth. God rewarded Ruth's faithfulness with a new
husband and a son. Boaz is loyal to Ruth and Ruth remains loyal to Naomi.

Loyalty is a very honorable trait and one that we as Christians should try
to keep in our lives. It is not always easy to stay loyal to an idea, a belief
or to someone. Loyal is defined in the dictionary as:

loyal

SYL:           loy-al
PRO:           loy El
POS:     adjective
DEF:       showing steady adherence, service, and faithfulness, as to a government, group, person, ideal, or the like:
EXA:           a loyal citizen and friend;
EXA:           a loyal party member.
SYN:           faithful (1,2,3), true (5), truehearted (1), dedicated {dedicate (2)}, steadfast (1)
SIM:           patriotic, fast1, true-blue, staunch2, constant, dutiful, devoted, obedient, reliable, dependable, trusty, trustworthy
DER:           loyally, adv.

Being a loyal servant to the Lord is very important for us as Christians.
It is important to schedule time for God in our daily lives just as we schedule
our other activities. Stay faithful to God and talk to Him each day. Tell Him
how much you love and appreciate all He does for you. Let the Lord know
that you will always be loyal to Him because you know that He will always
be loyal to YOU!

Next week when you return, you will be ready to study Lesson #11! Please tell
