MAST

Yeehaw!!! This is the part I love!
But, don't tell anyone. Pleasure and enjoyment are unauthorized in today's Army. Most Army pilots do enjoy flying. Why else would they put up with the rest of it? Flying is a well deserved reward. With the lack of training time available today, we get most of our flight time on actual live missions. Some say that we are "trauma junkies" because of the adrenaline rush that we get when a mission is called in. I say that the rush is just from the excitement of getting to fly. A typical civilian commercial helicopter pilot will fly 75 to 100 hours a month, while we get 15 to 20. Don't worry about us getting bored during the hours we're not flying. The Army finds plenty of other jobs to keep us out of trouble for 10 to 12 hours a day.
