Thomas Baker (WilliamA)b. 1638 County of Essex, England d. 1710 Kingston, RI

m. Sarah ?? b. 1641. Thomas immigrated to Dedham, MA, then to Newport RI and finally to Kingston, RI. By trade he was a tailor and ordained as a Baptist minister in 1655. In 1656, Thomas, with others left the First Baptist Church and formed a congregation known as the Second Baptist Church, of which he was pastor. [Reasons for the separation were stated that "Said persons conceived a prejudice against psalmody and against the restraints that the liberty of prophesying was laid under, and also against the doctrine of particular redemption, and against the rite of laying on of hands as a matter of indifference"]

Jan 26, 1671 Alice Tripp, daughter of John Tripp and Mary Paine. Benjamin and twelve others bought 1824 acres of vacant land in Narragansett in 1709. On 13 Dec 1726, administration of Benjamins estate was granted to his brother Thomas. It notes two sons and two daughters (Some records indicate Benjamin had two children.)

m Susanna Reynolds b. 21 Dec 1703, Exeter, RI, daughter of Joseph Reynolds and Susanna Babcock. In the list of Rhode Island Freeman, John is listed in 1747 at Exeter, RI. The probate records for Exeter (Book 2, P18) a will dated 2 Sep 1757 for John Baker of Exeter mentions his wife Susanna, daughters Deborah, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth Willcox, and Susanna Sunderland, sons Elisah and Samuel. Son Samuel and Wife Susanna are named as execitors.

m. Abigail ?? Samuel was listed as a Freeman in 1748 at Exeter, RI. On Mar 29, 1784, Samuel shows up in Vermont with his sons John, Peleg, and Amos. Executor of his fathers will dated 2 Sep 1757, he also received a legacy from his mothers will (Susanna Stanton, which indicates she remarried,) dated 23 Apr 1773.
