Anne C. (O'Hare) Donovan, 93, of Utica, passed away suddenly Friday, June 4, 1993, at the family
residence.
She was born Feb. 4, 1900, in Utica, the daughter of John and Anna Sheehan O'Hare. On August 27,
1923, in historical old St. John's, she married Gerald F. Donovan. He passed away on July 12,
1971. Mrs. Donovan was employed with the public school system for several years, working as a
secretary at Roosevelt School. She was a member of the church of the Blessed Sacrament, its
Altar Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. She was the former treasurer of the Catholic Woman's
Club.
Mrs. Donovan is survived by her five children, Sr. Mary Lourdes O.S.F. (Bernice), of Utica, Sr.
Bernadette Mary O.S.F. (Janet), of Utica, Sr. Geraldine E.O.S.F., of Tampa, Fl., Msgr. William
J. Donovan, of Utica, Rev. J. Michael Donovan of Oswego; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph
(Elizabeth) O'Hare, of Utica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Donovan was
predeceased by her son, Gerald F. Donovan Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Henry
Hoeschele; and two brothers John and Joseph P. O'Hare.
Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 from the Ortner, Nunn & McGrath & Doyle Funeral Home, 40
Main St., Whitesboro, and 10:30 from the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Interment will be in
Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the family plot. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday,
2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
The Donovan family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Paul A. Dwyer for his
selfless attention to mother. Remembrances in Mrs. Donovan's name may be made to the Franciscan
Sisters of Allegany, N.Y. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
