ELLA CARLETON MEEKER DIED SUNDAY EVENING
--------------------
Daughter of the Late Charles Carleton -- Passed Away
at the Family Homestead After Long Period of Ill Health.

The death of Mrs. Ella Carleton Meeker, which occurred at her farm home on the Mexico road Sunday evening at 7:20 o'clock, came as a great shock to her friends, particularly those living out of the immediate locality of her home. Mrs. Meeker had been in poor health for the past year or two, suffering from cancer. However, of late she had been able to keep around and was up about her home until the last.

Ella Carleton was born in Camden May 8, 1872, a daughter of the late Charles and Henrietta (Deering) Carleton, who passed away many years ago. She was married to Edward Meeker about twenty years ago. Mrs. Meeker was a woman of many fine qualities and is spoken of very highly by all who knew her. Kindness was one of her prominent traits. She was also very industrious and had managed and operated her large farm ever since the death of her father.

In religious faith Mrs. Meeker was an Episcopalian.

Surviving to mourn the loss of a devoted mother is an only son, Carleton Meeker; and two brothers, W. G. Carleton of Rome and Ralph Carleton of Camden.

The funeral was largely attended yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home. Rev. Cecil Taylor of Trinity church officiating, Mrs. E. A. Gayde sang. Floral tributes were beautiful. Bearers were neighbors: Dhru Hall, Riley A. Scoville, James Osborn, John Conniff, Roy Lawrence, Mr. Stowell. Interment was made in the family plot in Forest Park cemetery.
