TABERG -- Ellsworth D. Armstrong, 54, of 8765 Meadows Road, died Wednesday in Rome Hospital after a brief illness. he was an employe of the Oneida County Highway Department for the last 21 years.
He was born Oct. 18, 1917, in the Town of Annsville, son of Benjamin and Alice Mansfield Armstrong.
A lifelong resident of the Town of Annsville, he was educated in Taberg schools. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Armstrong married Anne Hubal in Rome on July 8, 1940.
Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Sandra) Malo Jr., Clinton, Ill., a son, William C. Armstrong, Taberg; five sisters, Emma Hicks of Rome, Mrs. George (Bessie) McCann of Taberg; Mrs. George (Bertha) Bennett of Kodiak Island, Alaska; Mrs. Samuel (Alice) O'Dell and Mrs. Edwin L. (Mabel) Marggi, both of Westmoreland; his twin brother, Elmer L. Armstrong of Lee Center; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Three other brothers are deceased -- James G. Armstrong on Aug. 10, 1966, Jesse Armstrong on Dec. 8, 1968, and Frank Armstrong on Aug. 17, 1970.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Leland W. Wedbster officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
