Fred J. Barnard, 75, Dies at Home of Complications

Third Wife Seriously Ill at Rome Hospital

Fred J. Barnard, 75, retired Rome mail carrier, died of complications at 8:10 a.m. today at his home, 600 Turin St. Mr. Barnard's third wife, the former Mrs. Grace Carey, is seriously ill at the Rome Hospital.

Mr. Barnard was appointed to the postal service on August 15, 1891, retiring on pension, on account of the age limit, on April 12, 1924.

He was born in the Town of Lee, April 13, 1859, the son of John and Mary Armstrong Barnard but had lived in Rome practically his entire life. Mr. Barnard's first wife, Celia Davis, died in 1927.

Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Alvin Barnard, Clinton, and John Barnard, Utica; two daughters, Mrs. Lula Beckley, Westernville, and Mrs. John Coppersmith, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Russell Williams, and Miss Mayme Barnard, New York, and two stepsons, James and Walter Carey, Rome.

Mr. Barnard was a member of the Baptist Church.

BARNARD - On Tuesday, March 15, 1935, in this city, Fred J. Barnard age 75 years.

The funeral services will be held from his late home 600 Turin street on Friday at 2 p.m.

Interment at Lee State cemetery.
