74-Year-Old Woman Dies At her Home

Mrs. Amos A. Armstrong, 74, RD 2, Stanwix Heights, died last night at home after being bedridden for the last four years. She had been in poor health the past nine years.

Mrs. Armstrong, the former Jennie Wilkinson, was born July 6, 1879, in Carterville, the daughter of George and Jane Carter Wilkinson. When still a child, he moved to Camden, where she was educated. She came to Rome about 1900.

On Nov. 15, 1905, she and Amos A. Armstrong were married by Rev. W. M. Hydon, in the Liberty St. Calvary Methodist Church.

For 33 years after their marriage they lived on the Bartlett Rd., before moving to Stanwix Heights.

In addition to belonging to the Calvary Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Ladies Aid and Adult Bible Class of the Bartlett Baptist Church. At one time she was a member of the Westmoreland Grange.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gervase Reese and Mrs. James Kosma, Rome, two sons, Raymond A. Armstrong, Buffalo and Roy C. Armstrong, Stanwix Heights; a sister, Mrs. Stanley Thurston, Blossvale; four grandchildren, Sgt. Donald Reese with the Army in Japan; Linda Jean and Doris Kay Reese, and Bruce C. Armstrong all of Rome; a great-grandchild, James W. Reese, Japan; and one nephew, Harry Meiers, Camden.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Teller Funeral Home. The Rev. George Dando, pastor of the Calvary Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. Ray A. Clark, pastor of the Bartlett Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Wright Settlement Cemetery.
