Jesse F. Armstrong, 65, of 710 W. Liberty St., died Saturday night in his home after a brief
illness.
Born in Rome on June 10, 1895, he was the son of Jay and Katie Smith Armstrong. He attended St.
Mary's School and Rome Free Academy.
On Sept. 3, 1919, he married Anne Marie Donovan of Utica in St. Agnes Church, Utica, with the
Rev. Alfred J. Hayes officiating.
Mr. Armstrong had been employed in the shipping department of Rome Cable Corp. for 24 years,
retiring last June. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving besides his wife are six daughters, Mrs. Harvey Stace of Camden, Mrs. Aileen Young
of Rome, Mrs. Thomas Henry of Camden, Mrs. Howard Coleman of Coonrod, Mrs. Alex Scales of Rome
and Mrs. Raymond Price of Camden, and 25 grandchildren. A son, Jesse F. Armstrong Jr., died
July 1, 1956.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. in the Thomas A. Cox Funeral Home and at
9:30 in St. Mary's Church, where a solemn requiem high Mass will be celebrated. Interment will
be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday
at the funeral home.
